Selected in the states of the Pacific coast of the USA, it was the most widespread for its high functional aptitudes. The livery is the same as the bronzed one, but differs in its much heavier anatomical structure. Muscle bands much more developed especially those of the chest.
The legs are quite short and robust like the neck. The body is compact and equipped with all the characteristics for a high meat production. It has an excellent food conversion index and slaughterhouse yields are particularly appreciated, especially of the breast.
The reproductive capacities of this breed are rather limited in both male and female and, due to the high sexual dimorphism, it is necessary to resort to artificial fertilization. Egg production is mediocre and so are the hatching percentages.
